About Hanover Lift

A nine-person, owner-operated garage door company working out of a shop on Hanover Street in Lower Manhattan.

Our story

Started with one van and a landline

Jacqueline Goebel took over her father's overhead-door route in 2009 with a single cargo van, a set of winding bars and a rolodex of Lower Manhattan supers who trusted the family name. The first year was mostly co-op service doors and the odd brownstone garage in Brooklyn Heights.

Seventeen years later the shop on Hanover Street runs four vans and nine people, and the work has widened to full sectional-door installs, smart openers and preventative contracts for small commercial buildings. What hasn't changed is the operating rule Jacqueline wrote on the whiteboard that first winter: quote it before you touch it, and never sell a part the door doesn't need.

Every technician here is on salary, not commission. That single decision removes the incentive that produces most of the horror stories people tell about this trade.

  • NYC Home Improvement Contractor licensed and general-liability insured
  • Workers' compensation coverage for all field staff
  • Background-checked, uniformed technicians in marked vans
  • IDEA-accredited installer training completed in-house

The people

Who shows up at your door

Jacqueline Goebel

Owner & estimator

Second-generation door mechanic. Handles every commercial quote personally and still runs Saturday emergency calls when the board gets busy.

Marcus Delgado

Lead technician

Fourteen years on residential torsion systems. If your spring broke before breakfast, Marcus is usually the one in your driveway.

Renata Okafor

Service manager

Answers the shop line, books the windows and chases the parts. She is the reason we can promise a two-hour arrival slot and mean it.

How we operate

Five commitments we put in writing

Flat-rate quotes

You approve an itemized price on a tablet before work begins. Change orders require a second signature.

Two-year warranty

Parts and labor, transferable with the property. Warranty visits are scheduled ahead of new work.

Two-hour windows

Not "sometime Tuesday." You get a window and a text when the van is fifteen minutes out.

No commission selling

Salaried crew. Nobody's paycheck grows because you bought a door instead of a spring.

Clean job sites

Drop cloths inside, magnetic sweep outside, old steel recycled at a licensed yard.

Answered phones

A person in the Hanover Street shop picks up during opening hours. Voicemails are returned same day.
